Skill Level: Building Skills ( Intermediate)
Focus: Our Speak UP™ group program is based on skill ability. The program provides an increased challenge to build on a speaker’s public speaking foundation and refine their skills. Speakers in this program have demonstrated through pre-assessment skill development needed to proceed in this program.
It is during this program that the speaker and PSFT Coach focus on the details that are the basis for Impromptu and Extemporaneous speaking in order to develop a good speaker, into a great one!
At this level, programming will focus on the following outcomes:
Fundamentals- Refining a speaker's crucial skills in interpersonal and intrapersonal communication. Incl. body language, voice, eye contact, etc.
Extemporaneous Speaking-the ability to deliver a well-structured and coherent speech with limited preparation or extensive notes. Speakers must rely on their knowledge, critical thinking, and communication abilities to articulate their thoughts effectively, often within a limited timeframe. Extemporaneous speaking requires adaptability, quick thinking, and the capacity to organize and convey ideas spontaneously.
Impromptu - Think On Your Feet- learning skills and tools for situations that might put you under pressure. When faced with unexpected questions, you'll be ready to answer them.
Research & Analytical Skills- Learning how to properly cite resources.
Informative Speaking-the ability to educate, enlighten, or inform the audience by presenting facts, data, examples, or expert opinions in a clear, organized, and engaging manner.
Persuasive Speaking- A structure that will also incorporate the use of argumentative and informational communication styles.
Story Telling - Discovering how to brilliantly craft a story and learn the creative aspect of speaking. Incl. Oral interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Poetry, Spoken word, etc.
Impromptu - Think On Your Feet- learning skills and tools for situations that might put you under pressure. When faced with unexpected questions, you'll be ready to answer them.
Peer FeedBack-Speakers will also learn and develop critical thinking and leadership skills to provide supportive and effective peer feedback.
Upon successful completion, speakers will receive a digital Certificate of Achievement and Achievement Badge verifying the hours of commitment and skill development completed.
All speakers will receive ongoing assessments measuring progress.
All sessions are recorded for reinforcement and feedback
